Description
This Mikuni TM40-6, RS34, 36, 38 and 40 air-box adapter is designed for use on motorcycles requiring an increase in overall carb length from Mikuni’s 100mm to 116mm whilst retaining the standard 55mm outside diameter of the air box spigot when wanting to use the standard OEM air-box. The adapter is made from silver anodized aluminium.
This air filter, air cleaner, air box adapter sleeve has been designed and manufactured for a good interference fit over the Mikuni carburetor spigot.
The sleeve has a 55mm ID at the carburetor spigot.
This spigot must be installed by a competent person. It is recommended to carefully remove with a fine file any protruding castings found on some carburetor spigots before carefully tapping on the new sleeve with a nylon hammer. When fitting the sleeve we recommend the use of a high strength 620 Loctite retaining compound after first breaking the anodising bond on the inside contact area of the sleeve with wither sanding paper, loctite primer or activator. The adhesive besides helping bond both items together will fill and seal any imperfections found on some carburetor spigots and also acts a a slight lubricant for the fitment.
