IMPORTANT NOTICE- This kit (depending on inlet type) requires the purchaser to source either one of or both their own inlet and outlet rubber sleeves for manifold matching.
Going faster has never been so easy, say goodbye to worn old flooding stock carbs, hard starting, irregular idle, hesitations, and flat spots. The Dual Mikuni VM28 carburetor kit is easily fitted to your BMW R60/6 or earlier models fitted with the 26mm Bing Carburettor and some with the 24s depending on the engine spigot type, where on all models the improvement is instant. This kit includes two pre-jetted Mikuni VM28 carburetors.
CABLES: This kit includes two 920mm long throttle cables. We can also offer the cable set a longer length of up 1050mm outer measurement on request. For longer cables we can only offer inner wires and solder on nipples as seen with our other BMW kits.
MOTOR CONNECTION: The motor end outlet spigot diameter on the VM28 is 35mm, requiring the separate purchase of some rubber fuel line or turbo hose for connection to the 31mm / 32mm diameter spigot on the later R60 cylinder heads as pictured. With the spigot being threaded into the head we don’t have a replacement for these where some of the earlier models with the 24mm Bing had a bolt on 31mm sleeve which can be replaced with our optional stub flange and boot combo also shown in the picture gallery. If your motorcycle has this arrangement, type the part number AFA46-59/35/28 into the search bar at the top of the menu to view and or purchase two of these stub flange and rubber boot assemblies.
AIR FILTER CONNECTION: On the air-filter connection side these carbs have an outside diameter of 44mm where if wanting to retain the OEM air-box filter pipe connection, you will again need to purchase some hose and clamps for fitting over both components, this may also requiring the shortening of the pipe to allow for the longer carb assembly. We do also sell POD filters found by entering the part number POD44 into the search box at the top of the main menu.
The most commonly suited jets for Australian and other international fuels in the 91 thru 98 octane range have been fitted as well as a one up and down size set of spare mains for wide open throttle testing and fine tuning the top end. Climate, altitude and fuel density from different octane fuels all have varying effects on final fine tuning as does cam, exhaust and cylinder head porting etc. Please do contact us if you believe further fine tuning is required and we can guide you through the process. Once tuned a VM Mikuni will not go out of tune for many years.

At Mikunioz, for the last 35 plus years, we have been constantly checking and where necessary upgrading our jetting specs as fuel quality changes. Regular fuel in the USA is 85 thru 87 octane or 91 in the premium brands which have numerous additives and blends added (basically smells and drys like wood varnish) which results in a totally different jetting spec and product performance. For US and Canadian customers we jet all of our carbs accordingly to suit this. This carb as supplied from the factory will never work on this bike and requires a total re-jet which is done here before shipping.
You will instantly experience better throttle response, improved acceleration, increased horsepower and torque.

If wishing to a different air filter rather than have the sleeve fitted you can purchase the carburetor, tuner jet kit and or what ever other components you want individually by following the directions below.
On the main menu to the left of the page, hover over the carb listing for Mikuni VM Carburetors and then select VM28 from the drop down list. When clicking on any individual size Mikuni carb from the drop down list it will put you into a page showing not only the Mikuni carb itself but also any items relevant to that carb, being Mikuni jets, Mikuni flanges, Mikuni carb tuning kits, Mikuni cables , Mikuni throttles, Mikuni air-cleaners and a range of Mikuni carb to OEM air box adapters etc to also suit. This also makes alternate jet selection easy for you if you have your own spec or wish to purchase extra jets as only the type of jets that fit that particular carb are shown.
