Our TM non pump flatslide and VM roundslide kits have been a popular choice for decades for BMW riders, out performing stock Bings and Dellorto’s, where this Twin TM40 kit is yet another big leap in performance on all the larger BMW engines with startling results.
As we don’t have an in-house built push/pull cable kit available we at present only offer this kit with the components for you to modify your own cables, consisting of new end ferrules, barrels, two longer lengths of inner wire and cable end adjusters. In our top of menu “How to Videos” there’s one on cable soldering and another for carb synchronizing. Tuning info supplied with the kit with after sales support available if ever required.
We supply carbs either as they come with a 44mm (A in Picture) engine side outlet diameter or sleeved up to 49.5mm for the closest match for clamping down your rubbers when replacing the 52mm diameter 40 Bings. There are two universal choke cable brackets for attaching each cable.
What should be spot on jetting is supplied with fine tune details on the supplied paperwork.
These carbs are 100mm (B) front to back and on the filter side are 55mm (D) diameter. If replacing a 100mm long carb or using PODS the carb is good to go with the matching outlet determined, or otherwise we have 16mm extenders still at the 55mm that we can fit to closest match the longer carbs wishing to use the stock air pipe. If replacing the smaller Bing carbs with under 55mm intake diameters you will need to purchase elsewhere some pieces of rubber tube to clamp down onto both the carb spigot at 55mm and the outside of the OEM BMW plastic connector. Always do some air filter disconnected runs when testing the main jets to determine that the air box can supply enough air and if not modify or replace with a pod filter.
The required jets are fitted prior to shipping, with spare mains provided for a WOT tuning check. Climate, altitude and fuel density from different octane fuels all have varying effects on final fine tuning as does cam, exhaust and cylinder head porting etc. For this reason we have included what we have found to be a range of jets to allow you to tune to most variables. The TM40-6 comes with a cable choke and bracket where you can purchase separately the optional knob choke assembly.
You will instantly experience better throttle response, improved acceleration, increased horsepower and torque. In a number of instances Dyno tests have shown improvements of up to and over 25% when fitted to OEM carburetored engines.
At Mikunioz, for the last 35 plus years, we have been constantly checking and where necessary upgrading our jetting specs as fuel quality changes. Regular fuel in the USA is 85 thru 87 octane or 91 in the premium brands which have numerous additives and blends added (basically smells and drys like wood varnish) which results in a totally different jetting spec and product performance. For US and Canadian customers we jet all of our carbs accordingly to suit this. This carb as supplied from the factory will never work on this bike and requires a total re-jet which is done here before shipping.

If wishing to a different air filter rather than have the sleeve fitted you can purchase the carburetor, tuner jet kit and or what ever other components you want individually by following the directions below.

When clicking on any individual size Mikuni carb from the drop down list it will put you into a page showing not only the Mikuni carb itself but also any items relevant to that carb, being Mikuni jets, Mikuni flanges, Mikuni carb tuner kits, Mikuni cables , Mikuni throttles, Mikuni air-cleaners and a range of Mikuni carb to OEM air box adaptors etc to also suit. This also makes alternate jet selection easy for you if you have your own spec as only the type jets for that particular carb are shown.
