IMPORTANT NOTICE- This kit does require a competent level of mechanical skills for correct fitment.

Our TM38 non pump flatslide kit has been a popular choice for decades and out performs the pumper Dellorto’s, where the TM40 is yet another leap in performance on all the Desmo 750s through 900 with startling results.

As we don’t have an in-house built push/pull cable kit available we at present only offer this kit with the components for you to modify your own cables, consisting of new end ferrules, barrels and cable end adjusters. At our top of menu “How to Videos” there’s one on cable soldering and carb synchronizing.

We supply carb to manifold boots where using a die grinder you need to carefully remove the internal locating protrusion on the motor side as the cylinder head ports have no groove in them. There are two choke cable brackets for attaching each cable.

What should be spot on jetting is supplied with fine tune details on the supplied paperwork.

We offer the kit with or without our popular gauze stacks where you may want to source your own more protective POD filtration.

The required jets are fitted prior to shipping, with spare mains provided for a WOT tuning check. Climate, altitude and fuel density from different octane fuels all have varying effects on final fine tuning as does cam, exhaust and cylinder head porting etc. For this reason we have included what we have found to be a range of jets to allow you to tune to most variables. The TM40-6 comes with a cable choke and bracket where you can purchase separately the optional knob choke assembly.

You will instantly experience better throttle response, improved acceleration, increased horsepower and torque.  In a number of instances Dyno tests have shown improvements of up to and over 25%  when fitted to OEM carburetored engines.

At Mikunioz, for the last 35 plus years, we have been constantly checking and where necessary upgrading our jetting specs as fuel quality changes. Regular fuel in the USA is 85 thru 87 octane or 91 in the premium brands which have numerous additives and blends added (basically smells and drys like wood varnish) which results in a totally different jetting spec and product performance. For US and Canadian customers we jet all of our carbs accordingly to suit this. This carb as supplied from the factory will never work on this bike and requires a total re-jet which is done here before shipping.

If wishing to a different air filter rather than have the sleeve fitted you can purchase the carburetor, tuner jet kit and or what ever other components you want individually by following the directions below.

On the main menu to the left of the page, hover over the carb listing for TM Carbs with Accel Pump and then select TM40-6 from the drop down list. When clicking on any individual size Mikuni carb from the drop down list it will put you into a page showing not only the Mikuni carb itself but also any items relevant to that carb, being Mikuni jets, Mikuni flanges, Mikuni carb tuner kits, Mikuni cables , Mikuni throttles, Mikuni air-cleaners and a range of Mikuni carb to OEM air box adaptors etc to also suit. This also makes alternate jet selection easy for you if you have your own spec as only the type jets for that particular carb are shown.

    This carb set up is very reasonably priced in fact cheaper than a set of 40mm pumper Dellorto’s and less than half the price of 41mm Keihen Flat Slides. The Mikunis performs better than the Dellorto’s over the complete carburation range.Easy to fit, balance and fine tune. I have fitted them to 5 of my mates Ducatis and everyone is happy. Easy cold starting just pull chokes on and kick. Easy starting when hot just kick. A great product. For a road bike I prefer these over Keihen Flat Slides which are more suited to a race bike. Having chokes certainly helps in cold conditions.

    Hi Tom, I rode the 900SS this morning with the new mikunis on it.

    I cannot believe the difference. The bike runs better, sounds better and performs so much better.

    Those Dellortos are going in a box and not coming out!

    The Mikunis are definitely an improvement that the 1976 900SS needed.
