The kit options to fit standard OEM air-box:

This kit fits easily to the 1996 and later models with the box section frame where it sometimes fouls between the tank and frame on the earlier models with the round tubular frame. Fitting to the earlier models may result in a fractional carb offset to one side along with the requirement to heat and slightly depress the Poly tank for clearance (see our Honda XR650R TM42-6 Pumper carb kit product description for an extreme example of how to do this). The performance improvement far out ways any inconvenience experienced during fitment.

47mm air box intake: Earlier plastic gas tank model Honda XR250’s using the mechanically operated slide type carb which measures 40mm OD at motor- 103 long 47mm inlet at air-filter end. This Carb comes with a 49mm air-box sleeve where using a heat gun or air-dryer will make for an easy fit over the extra 2mm in spigot diameter.

55mm air box intake: Later model Honda XR250L  with the Steel gas tank, also XR250R electric start and  Baja with TPS disconnected, or other models fitted with a CV carb (vacuum operated slide) which measures measures 40mm OD at motor- 103 long- 55mm inlet at air-filter end. This Carb comes with a 54mm sleeve fitted where your air-box inlet will easily clamp down 1mm onto it.

Going fast has never been so easy.  These carburetors have for a long time now been the popular carb of choice to fit to any 250cc or 300cc engine with allowable space, where chasing optimum increases in performance and power along with general smooth throttle response and ride-ability. With the nothing short of outstanding results when fitted to the Honda XR250, this is a simple ready to bolt on kit.

The kit also comes with throttle cables and a 1/4 turn quick action throttle as the Honda cables have a non-matching inner wire length. There are jets provided that may require fitting if your engine does run a little rich but usually its just bolt on and go. Climate, altitude and fuel density from different octane fuels all have varying effects on final fine tuning as does cam, exhaust and cylinder head porting etc. For this reason we strongly suggest checking the tune as per the supplied instructions to maybe even get more performance than initially experienced.

This kit includes an silver anodized air-box adapter (optional) fitted to the carb, a pair of cables and quick action throttle, a pilot and main jet for tuning.


If wishing to modify or use your existing Honda XR250 cables to suit the Mikuni TM33-8012 you can purchase the carburetor, tuner jet kit and or what ever other components you want individually by following the directions below.

    After looking around for a standard carburettor for our Xr250r we could not find a second hand and genuine Honda was rediculously over priced I contacted Tom from mukuni oz and with enormous amount of experience he recommended the Tm33 mukuni pumper carburettor. What a difference this carburettor has made. Gone is the flat spot when you first open the throttle. So much more responsive. Easy figment and the biggest bonus was the ability to be able to use the factory air cleaner with the extension supplied with this kit. I would recommend this kit to any XR250 owner who is having trouble with there factory carburettor or just for an instant lift in power.

    A customer requested to swap the original carburetor to a Mikuni TM33. He supplied the carburetor. On removing the original carby it was found that it had a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). The TM33 does not have this. After reading many forums etc I reached out to http://www.mikunioz.com and they suggested to not connect the TPS connector. I had read that the bike at idle and low rpm would be compromised, but as per Tom from http://www.mikunioz.com, once fitted and I took it for a road test…. Idle was smooth, excellent throttle response, and was definitely more responsive than the original carby.

    What an awesome upgrade ! The
    TM33 is the answer to all the carb issues that come with factory hardware. No more flat spots, Excellent response throughout the rpm range. Mikunioz is an excellent company to work with. I ordered the TM33, and exactly 1 week later received my parts in Colorado (USA)as described. Excellent performance from Mikuni, and Tom is a rock star for customer service !
    The only other thing to say is along with the TM33, I replaced the exhaust with a DG pipe to get better flow. It was like taking 50 Lbs. off the front end of the bike !
