Air-box Adapter, Mikuni TM42 Carb (65mm) Reducing to 58mm ext.12mm

Description

This Mikuni TM42, 45 or 48mm air-box adapter is designed for use on Suzuki DR650, Kawasaki KLR650  and KTM 640 or any other motorcycles requiring a 12mm extension reduced to 58mm diameter when wanting to use the standard OEM air-box. The adapter is made from silver anodized aluminum with a 2mm wall thickness for strength and rigidity.

This air filter, air cleaner, air box adapter sleeve has been designed and manufactured for a good interference fit over the Mikuni carburetor spigot.

The sleeve has a 65mm ID at the carburetor spigot with a 12mm extension at 58mm OD

This spigot must be installed by a competent person. With tight fitting sleeves it is recommended to carefully remove with a fine file any protruding castings found on some carburetor spigots before tapping on with a nylon hammer.  When fitting  the sleeve we recommend the use of a high strength 620 Loctite, firstly sanding the anodized surface and cleaning with acetone or Loctite primer. If a looser fitting sleeve you must firstly prime both surfaces with Loctite Activator SF 7649 which itself will break the seal on the anodizing and also solidifies the Loctite very quickly after pushing on, followed by a quick, short left right turn. Alternately you can use a high strength two pack epoxy where the anodizing  again needs a light sand to break the surface. The adhesive besides helping bond both items together will fill and seal any imperfections found on some carburetor spigots and also acts as a slight lubricant for the fitment with tighter sleeves.
