Description

Please note: The fitment of the VM32 to XL250’s has been a popular upgrade for many years where the  improvement is terrific but requires fitting a way larger carb into a restricted space. If wanting to use the OEM air box, it will require you to glue on with 2 pack epoxy the air box adapter after shortening the carb spigot. Details below where give us a call if you need to discuss:

Dimensions motor end: The VM32 measures 40mm at the motor (your carb is 36mm). The 40 can squeeze with some effort  into a fresh Honda engine rubber where you can buy the carb with a 36.5mm reducing motor end adapter fitted, but does add another 14mm onto the length of the carb, the inside is tapered down to 28mm. Best option if using a POD filter.     Dimensions Air-box side: The VM32 is 57.5mm at the air box end where all good if happy to use a POD filter or otherwise to fit your air box boot we have the option of a down to 46.5mm reducing adapter. The adapter adds another 14mm to the overall carb length where this carb needs to be shortened back from 102mm to a minimum 93mm long as has a 9mm longer airbox spigot than the similar VM30 and 34 carbs. We supply the air-box adapter loose as you will need to shorten 9mm off the carbs longer than others air-filter spigot for a more compact fit especially if buying with the Outlet reducer on the other end also, with both adapters it will make the carb overall length 11mm longer than your carb requiring some air boot shortening and manipulation to fit hence many just go with the tight motor end fit with no reduction sleeve that end. Having both sleeves  there may be a few mm difference in fitment diameters, being into rubber this is easily compensated for with a bit of spit or a heat gun for tight fits.

The Mikuni VM roundslide carburetor has for decades been the economical replacement carb of choice for many pre ’82 motorcycles riders chasing some more performance, who have worn out their OEM carbs or are just over some of their inherent OEM problems. All this means getting the full enjoyment out of your Honda has never been so easy, say goodbye to hard starting, hesitations and flatspots.  These Mikuni carburetors are easily fitted to your Honda XL250 and can either be used with a POD or foam filter or can be connected to your OEM air-box if selecting that option at purchase and as shown in the picture. The kit comes with a new nylon lined throttle cable with a 90 degree lower fitting for fitment directly into the top of the carb. There are what has proven for years to be the correct jetting fitted, as well as spare mains for fine tuning. The fore mentioned inlet and outlet sleeves are optional choices. Climate, altitude and fuel density from different octane fuels all have varying effects on final fine tuning as does cam, exhaust and cylinder head porting etc. For this reason, we have included what we have found to be a range of jets to allow you to tune to most variables.

IF NOT WANTING TO PURCHASE THE KIT IN ITS ADVERTISED FORM PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS BELOW.

If wishing to modify or use your existing Honda XL250 cables to suit the Mikuni VM32 you can purchase the carburetor, tuner jet kit and or what ever other components you want individually by following the directions below.

On the main menu to the left of the page, hover over the carb listing for VM Carbs and then select VM32 from the drop down list. When clicking on any individual size Mikuni carb from the drop down list it will put you into a page showing not only the Mikuni carb itself but also any items relevant to that carb, being Mikuni jets, Mikuni flanges, Mikuni carb tuner kits, Mikuni cables , Mikuni throttles, Mikuni air-cleaners and a range of Mikuni carb to OEM air box adaptors etc to also suit. This also makes alternate jet selection easy for you if you have your own spec as only the type jets for that particular carb are shown.
Click on the carb itself if wanting to view the full details and or to make your purchase. Then back arrow back in the carbs main page and go into the tuner kits, which show in the sales drop down list the jetting kits we have for confirmed suitable engines for that particular carb. Again thoroughly read the tuner kit description.

Best investment for this bike. I had issues with the original carb running rich down low – idle to 2,500 – 3,000 RPM. Needed smaller pilot jet which are not available. Bit the bullet and purchased the Mikuni Kit. A little tight into the rubber manifold on the engine side but using silicone spray lube it fitted OK. I used the adaptor on the airbox side and assembled the whole airbox with airfilter inside then refitted to the bike with the lower front mounting bracket spaced out 10mm from the frame. I fitted a large O ring inside the supplied aluminum adaptor and with the “push” from the original rubber boot was a good fit. The bike started and idled first kick – only had to adjust idle mixture out 1/2 a turn. The bike runs so much crisper and has eliminated all low down blubbering issues, It pulls better down low and revs right out compared to the original carb. 5 Stars from me.
