This Mikuni HS40 Complete Kit suits all Harley Davidson Iron head XL1000 Sportsters.
This Kit includes the 1/2′ drop down manifold. The manifold gives better clearance with larger custom tanks where not necessary with the OEM gas tank or where clearance is needed for a magneto on the earliest models. .
The kit includes a Mikuni HSR40 40mm Carburetor with choke cable, a specially designed Mikuni 1/2″ drop down manifold for better tank clearance (cylinder head mounding band rubbers not included) , heavy duty manifold to carb rubber mounting flange, choke cable securing bracket, some jets for tuning, a throttle cable set to suit stock to +2″ applications (if needing 6″ longer cables please advise in the buyers cart message box and we can swap these around), plus a Mikuni 2 1/2″ wide US made S&B air-cleaner, chrome cover and hardware kit which mounts off the lifter block studs using the two supplied brackets.
Mikunioz has re-released the HS40 kit due to customer demand from Harley Davidson owners who back in the day ran these great carburetors and today whilst still riding these older bikes, want that Mikuni increased smooth power and enhanced riding experience whilst not wanting to give all the engine components the work out delivered by the HSR42. In short what we’re saying here is if you can’t help screwing that throttle all the time and understand how expensive a XL1000 motor rebuild can be, then this the second best Shovel/Ironhead Sportster carb ever made after the HSR is sometimes a wise decision. Impressive performance increases can be expected when replacing CV and other carbs with an even way more impressive gain if replacing an old OEM butterfly type Harley Davidson Keihin or Bendix carburetor.
