Description
This is a complete Air-Filter Kit for Mikuni HSR carbs when fitted on Harley Davidson pre 1993, crank case breather Evolution models. Select your filter element option from the product drop list. This filter will produce the most performance and torque from your HSR carb.
If you have the standard push in type 1989 and later CV manifold or the Mikuni bolt up manifold with the rubber mounting flange, the brackets bolt directly to the heads and sit the air filter at exactly the same location as stock.
If you have a different manifold or early pre 1989 Harley manifold where the carb bolted to the manifold. With these , S&S or any similar manifold other than the Mikuni one, it will sit out ½” or so same as where any other filter will sit with this arrangement. Just pack between the bracket and the head with spacers or washers and buy some bolts allowing for the extra length.
Mikuni HSR42 uses a 2 1/2″ wide USA made S&B filter element where the HSR 45 and 48 carbs require the wider 3″ K&N element.
The pre 1993 Evolution kit has 1/2″ UNC cylinder head mounting bolts. The very first Evolution models where fitted with a smaller diameter bolt which will need to be purchased separately by the purchaser.
