Going fast has never been so easy, say goodbye to hard starting, hesitations and flatspots. This Mikuni TM40-6 carburetor is correctly sized and easily fitted to higher performance Yamaha 500cc SR, TT and XT models. This Mikuni TM40-6 Pumper carburetor fits as a direct replacement to the Yamaha SR, Yamaha TT and Yamaha XT inlet snorkel and with the fitment of the provided outlet mounting flange, which move the carb slightly forward, enables it to properly clear the frame. Though most Yamaha OEM Push/Pull throttle cables will fit, this kit has the added benefit of coming with new throttle cables and a 1/4 turn quick action throttle. There is a hose tail on the carb for connection to vacuum operated fuel taps.
The TM40 Pumper has proven itself to be a spectacular upgrade on all brands in the 600cc and larger big thumper market. Due to space restrictions (less than 30mm between the back of the carb and the plastic box) this carb will not adapt to your stock air-box where rather requiring the use of a POD filter of your choice bought elsewhere (carb intake spigot diameter is 65mm). The front face of the OEM air-box can be cut open to accommodate the POD if wanting to retain the box. Wide open throttle runs with both your filter on and off will determine if you have sufficient filter area to supply this carbs demand. This same process also determines the best suited of the supplied main jet options.
The kit comes with a Mikuni TM40-6 carb with knob choke, heavy duty rubber engine mounting flange to isolate the heat, a 1/4 turn quick action throttle and a nylon lined push/pull cable set. There are spare jets provided for fine tuning.
Climate, altitude and fuel density from different octane fuels all have varying effects on final fine tuning as does cam, exhaust and cylinder head porting etc. For this reason, we have included what we have found to be a range of jets to allow you to tune to most variables worldwide.

I just put one of these Mikunioz TM40-6 pumper kits on my SR500 last week only with a KRS-001 throttle. WOW what a difference to the VM36 I had fitted about 3 years ago. She pulls like a freight train now & I am really surprised to see my fuel economy increased from 16Km/lt with the VM to 22Km/lt with the TM and that’s while riding it like I stole it. Don’t be a tight arse and buy the VM as this TM makes it feel like a totally different bike, and you will recoup the added cost in fuel savings.
