Description

This VM24 carb is good to go out of the box on pre 2006 Yamaha TTR125 models with just a couple of spare main jets for checking wide open throttle tune, but requires extra mains and pilot jet on the later models where the motor was changed for  emissions compliance changes back then. The main and pilot circuit differences between the two motor versions is huge and if fitting the wrong option you will instantly know its not right, then requiring the other jetting option. 2006-2008 year bikes can swing either way where if unsure please contact the office as jets are non-returnable items. The alternate jets can then be purchased separately later through the Tuner kits option off the VM24 carb page found in the main menu “VM Roundslide Carbs” drop list. On some OEM rubber engine mounting flanges there are protruding tags for locating the OEM carb vertical, where for fitting this carb they need to be removed to allow full penetration into the socket.

CABLE ATTACHMENT: If you have the early version OEM carb with the cable in through the top like our VM24, this is an easy swap by removing the new carbs top adjuster and drilling out the carb top to match yours, then fitting your OEM cable directly in place. Otherwise if your carb has the twin cable side attachment as in the picture, you then only use your pull cable. To make this work you cut the lower fitting off the inner wire and remove it. Remove the lower metal fitting off the outer cable and redirect it into the top of the new carb brass adjuster. Using the supplied new inner wire, fit the ball end to your throttle,  calculate a safety margin into the wire length for slide attachment and then solder on the supplied end nipple. We have a video on soldering in the main menu “How To Videos” option at the top of the main menu. Use the rubber boot of your original cables to fit over the carb top adjuster.

This VM24 Mikuni VM roundslide carburetor is the option of choice for your motor fixing all the OEM carbs short comings with a new found power and performance as a great bonus. All this means getting the full enjoyment out of your Yamaha has never been so easy, say goodbye to sticking choke mechanisms, hard starting, hesitations and flatspots.  These Mikuni carburetors are easily fitted to your Yamaha TTR125 and can either be used with a POD or foam filter or can be connected to your OEM air-box. There is what has proven for years to be the correct jetting supplied, as well as spare mains for fine tuning. Climate, altitude and fuel density from different octane fuels all have varying effects on final fine tuning as does cam, exhaust and cylinder head porting etc. For this reason, we have included what we have found to be a range of jets to allow you to tune to most variables. If wishing to fit a whole new throttle and cable assembly to suit the Mikuni VM24 you can purchase the carburetor, tuner jet kit and or what ever other components you want individually by following the directions below.

When clicking on any individual size Mikuni carb from the drop down list it will put you into a page showing not only the Mikuni carb itself but also any items relevant to that carb, being Mikuni jets, Mikuni flanges, Mikuni carb tuner kits, Mikuni cables , Mikuni throttles, Mikuni air-cleaners and a range of Mikuni carb to OEM air box adaptors etc to also suit. This also makes alternate jet selection easy for you if you have your own spec as only the type jets for that particular carb are shown.

    My daughters TTR125 was lacking in power and just plain doughy. that’s just how they are from the factory. I tried rejetting the original but was very disappointed with the results. After much reading on the internet I ordered the kit from Tom at Mukinioz.
    I did have to play with the main jetting and ended up using the largest main jet that Tom supplied inthe kit of the 3 and lifted the needle to highest position to match the intake mods and stock exhaust with spark arrestor removed.
    It really hit its straps when I got to that point. the idle jet supplied was too rich for my liking and for reliability. I ended up with going down to 17.5 idle jet. with this setup it allows the spark plug to run clean at idle and full throttle. The improvement it super impressive. Feels more like a 2 stroke the way it revs out. power wheelies are now a thing, much more fun for a more advanced junior rider and especially for the adults to have a bit of fun on. Took some time to get the most out of it but it was worth it. 2014 TTR125LE. also used a new single throttle and metal cable bend for smooth throttle operation.

    Best thing I’ve done with my daughters ttr125lw. The bike was a twin cable and was a bitch to start cold.
    After fitting this carby kit a little choke and first kick it roared to life. Quick idle adjustment and off riding.
    Started the following day with no choke on a 1/2 arsed kick.
    Well done guys great service and parts.
