Description
This Mikuni TM42 Pumper single carburetor conversion kit is for fitment to Yamaha XTZ 660 models.
The TM42 Pumper has proven itself to be our most spectacular upgrade on all brands in the 600cc and larger big thumper market, with very impressive performance gains on the 660 and all Yamaha 600’s. Wide open throttle runs with both one filter box side cover off and back on will determine if you have sufficient air flow without the need for drilling extra holes. A run with the element in/out confirms sufficient filter area and air flow without having to upgrade the element. This same process also determines the best suited of the supplied main jet options, fastest clocked at wide open throttle is the best.
The kit includes: a Mikuni TM42-6 carb, a PA11 carbon fibre nylon printed two into one manifold with mounting hardware and gaskets, heavy duty rubber engine mounting sleeve with clamps, a 1/4 turn quick action throttle and a nylon lined push/pull cable set, a 310mm long choke cable with universal mounting bracket, a custom air-box adapter which bolts to the air-box face using sealant and connects to the carb with a silicon hose and supplied clamps, a plate and spacers for mounting the coil 80mm either further forward on some bikes to clear space for the throttle mechanism, where on others simply using the supplied spacers in the OEM coil location can work. A smaller needle and seat assembly has been fitted to avoid fuel pump pressure pop-off and there are spare jets provided for fine tuning.
Special fitment notes- After first check if simply fitting the two supplied spacers behind your coil allows for clearance with the new carb, if not you’ll have to use of the supplied coil relocation bracket and the spacers for carb clearance, you will then have to purchase elsewhere a 50mm longer spark plug lead. Air-box connection- Due to slight variations in the location of the two outlet port holes in the air box, the removal of some poly material may be required to allow the protruding ports on the adapter to fit into the air box and then also align perfectly with the carb’s inlet spigot. Once checked and aligned mark and drill the fixing bolt holes in the air box. At this time also hold the supplied silicon hose along side the two connecting surfaces to confirm it’s not to long and requiring shortening. On test bikes we have found up to 4mm variations in the gap between the air box adapter and carb face when both are fixed in place so have supplied what is so far a silicon pipe cut to length for the extreme. The air box is then after bolting the adapter in place using fuel resistance silicon sealant to seal all possible air entry points, again slid forward into place, this time with the silicon hose and clamps in place on the carb spigot.
Climate, altitude and fuel density from different octane fuels all have varying effects on final fine tuning as does cam, exhaust and cylinder head porting etc. For this reason, we have included what we have found to be a range of jets to allow you to tune to most variables worldwide.

If wishing to modify or use your existing cables, where be advised that most OEM throttles struggle to fully open the TM42, or use your own mounting arrangement to suit the Mikuni TM42, you can purchase the carburetor, tuner jet kit and or what ever other components you want individually by following the directions below.
