Description
This Mikuni HS40 Easy Kit suits all Harley Davidson Knuckleheads and Panheads bolting to most aftermarket two bolt manifolds, and suits Ironhead 1000cc XL Sportsters (when using the OEM stock small sporty tank). Sportsters using larger custom fatbob style tanks will require one of our Shovelhead/ XL 1000cc Sportster drop down manifolds (bought separately) or our Complete kit which includes the 1/2″ drop down manifold for tank clearance.
If your motorcycle has a single cable throttle, a push pull later OEM style throttle necessary and available here.
The kit includes a Mikuni HSR40 40mm Carburetor with choke cable, heavy duty manifold to carb rubber mounting flange, choke cable securing bracket, some jets for tuning, a throttle cable set, plus an air-cleaner adapter for mounting any custom air-cleaner that fits a Harley Davidson Keihin CV or a S&S shorty air-cleaner. The Mikuni HSR air cleaner adapter fits over an anodized alloy sleeve which is pressed onto the carburetor intake spigot enlarging it from 55mm to the 65mm outside diameter of the HSR.
There is no form of air-cleaner mounting bracket system included in this kit as generally depending on what carb you are removing and or what type of air-cleaner you will be installing, you could expect to either use some or all of your existing brackets or otherwise require the fabrication of a complete custom made arrangement. As this adapter is not secured to the carb (only a slip over O-ring sealed fit) such as when used on Evo and Twin Cam models, it is essential to solidly mount the air filter back to the rocker boxes to securely hold it in place.
Please advise if requiring longer than stock length cables where we do offer +6″ over as a swap out. Also if not running a push/Pull twin cable throttle you will need to purchase one for mating to these cables. Mikunioz has re-released the HS40 kit due to customer demand from Harley Davidson owners who back in the day ran these great carburetors and today whilst still riding these older bikes, want that smooth power and enhanced riding experience whilst not wanting to give all the engine components the work out delivered by the HSR42. Impressive performance increases can be expected when replacing other carbs with an even way more impressive gain if replacing an old butterfly type Harley Davidson Keihin or Bendix carburetor.
